The Lime fruit creates an intoxicatingly beautiful essential oil that is fresh, vibrant and mood lifting. Lime Essential Oil, Distilled (Citrus aurantifolia) from Mexico is therapeutic quality essential oil produced through steam distillation. It has a light, fresh, true-to-lime aroma and is the only citrus oil we carry that is distilled rather than expressed, eliminating the phototoxicity that cold-expressed oil has.
The aroma is bright and refreshing – a true mood booster. Aromatically, Lime essential oil blends well with other citrus oils and with lavender, bergamot, neroli and wood oils. While you may prefer expressed Lime essential oil for aromatherapy, many perfumers and body care product makers use distilled Lime essential oil in order to avoid potential problems with phototoxicity.
Lime fruit has often been used in place of Lemon fruit in many traditional practices and even in some cooking applications and it shares many qualities with Lemon fruit, although the aroma is very different. Both Lime and Lemon fruit have been used at times in the past for infections, poor appetite, sore throats and colds.
